Transform Your Home or Business’ Look
Wooden treads in a staircase can transform the look and feel of a home or business. Create a harmonious look by selecting a tread that complements your flooring or create a visual statement by selecting a tread that completely contrasts the colour of your flooring. Tread returns are available in numerous styles at Domus Flooring & Stairs, but they’re primarily smooth and rounded.
Right, Left and Loose Return Tread Styles
The Right Return tread style means that the stair tread has a pre-attached return with the left side unfinished for the side that’s against the wall. Conversely, the Left Return tread style has the right side unfinished for the side that’s against the wall. A Double Return tread style has both sides finished off with a pre-attached return and is used for treads that are open on both sides. We cater to all styles and in addition also supply Loose Returns.
Available in Natural or Clear Finishes
At Domus Flooring & Stairs, our treads are available in Natural or Clear finishes. Natural treads showcase more wood grain and pattern characters than clear treads. For a closer look at the different profiles of our available tread returns and finishes, please click on an image below. You may also drop by one of our three stores in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick to view our selection in person.
Skirts and Risers Provide Support and Detail
Stair skirts and risers run along the sides of a staircase and on the vertical rise between steps. While providing some support to the stair system, they also offer aesthetic detail, filling in any visually empty spaces. They also serve to unify the décor or theme of your home or business, especially when paired with the moulding to match.
While risers are typically fillers between the vertical portion of each step, skirts on the other hand run the length of the staircase along the rake angle against a wall and the open side of a tread or on both sides along a curb wall.

Don’t Overlook Your Stair Railings
Stair railings are sometimes one of the most overlooked – and necessary – components of a staircase because we take them for granted until they’re not there when they need them that is. However, stair handrails shouldn’t be merely restricted to practical safety purposes only – they can also markedly improve the aesthetics of your home or business if implemented correctly. The type of material selected and style will allow your railings to be noticed.
Ensure Your Safety and Comfort
Our selection of stair railings and posts at Domus Flooring & Stairs in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia complement one another and will suit many other styles. Apart from style, you’ll find sturdiness, stability and durability are also important features in our selection of railings to ensure the safety and comfort of those who use them. Please contact us with any questions you may have regarding our railings offerings, or stop by one of our three showrooms to see them in person!

More than Just the Support for Your Stairs
Everyone knows how stair posts are structurally important in supporting the foundation of a staircase. However, with intricate trimmings and the right architectural style, posts can become more than just the poles that support and tie in a stair system together. They actually create a beautiful presence that welcomes the eye. Posts play an integral role in your staircase’s safety and aesthetics. Various materials can be used and posts can come in an almost endless array of colours to create the right look for your staircase.
Ensure Your Safety and Comfort
The right stair posts will be sturdy and provide a good source of support to your system’s railings. At Domus Flooring & Stairs, you’ll find quite a selection of posts for your new staircase in our New Brunswick and Nova Scotia stores. If there’s ever anything we can help you locate, don’t hesitate to contact us and let us know how we may be of professional help.

More than Just a Necessary Safety Feature
Stair spindles, also called balusters, are primarily a safety feature that prevents people and items from falling between the handrail and the stair treads. They are typically thin, vertical structures that also aid in holding up the handrail. Without a doubt, spindles also add charm and artistic appeal to any staircase.
