From Waterbeds to Hardwood Flooring

Domus Flooring & Stairs has been serving the Maritimes for over 30 years. Back in 1981, our founder, Daniel Roy, opened a small company in McKees Mills, NB, manufacturing waterbeds and other custom wood furniture. In 1985, his wife (Jeannita Belliveau) gave birth to a baby boy who had sinus problems. Despite the carpet in the newborn’s room being new, Jeannita insisted that it be replaced with hardwood.

This need for new flooring came at a time when Daniel saw a necessity to evolve the company from waterbed sales to something else. True to his character, when the time came for Daniel to order 100 square feet of hardwood flooring to redo the bedroom, he instead ordered 10,000 square feet and sold the balance.

Two Generations Proudly Serving You

For 20 years after that, Daniel grew the company while putting his family first. That meant staying local, while he slowly started to think about retirement. In the early 2000s when the time came to sell the company, he instead gave it one last big push before passing off the torch to his son. Having long grown up from being the baby boy with sinus problems, owner Donald Roy proudly took over management of his parents’ company in 2007.

A lot has changed since our humble beginnings over 35 years ago, but our mission and beliefs have stayed the same. We pride ourselves in providing our customers with the best service possible, and our people make the difference! With new experienced partners and new storefronts, we now serve the Maritimes from our three main locations in Dieppe, Dartmouth and Quispamsis.
